Do you know what is the ''Guerre des mailles'' (War of stitches?). It's a friendly competition between crochet designers, and those who enter have to create a new pattern based on the same theme. This time, the theme was ''Le pouvoir des fleurs'' (Flower Power). Of course, I had to enter.

Connaissez-vous la Guerre des mailles? C'est une compétition amicale entre designers de crochet, et ceux qui participent doivent créer un nouveau patron basé sur un même thème. Cette fois-ci, le thème était ''Le pouvoir des fleurs''. Bien entendu, je devais participer.

I created this ''abtract tulips'' bolero and I called it Tulips. Pretty straight forward, lol. I am in LOVE with it. At first I wasn't sure where this was going at first when I started, but honestly, I'm super glad I kept going and finished my idea. It is even better than how I've imagined it.

J'ai créé ce boléro à ''tulipes abtraites'' et je l'ai appelé Tulips. Assez simple n'est-ce pas! Haha! Je suis en AMOUR avec le résultat. Je n'étais pas sure de ce que ça aurait l'air, lorsque j'ai débuté. Bien heureuse d'avoir poussé mon idée au bout puisque c'est encore mieux que ce que je m'étais imaginé!

Finally. After a whole year of wanting to write this design, I finally did it! But let's start from the beginning. 

Enfin. Après toute une année à vouloir écrire ce design, je l'ai enfin fait! Mais commençons par le commencement.

July 2016. I made a sweater, for myself. It was totally free-handed. Wasn't perfect, but I was proud of it. So I shared it on social medias. Especially on Facebook in a crochet group. Wow. The reactions I received blew my mind. I didn't know that my not-so-perfect sweater and my even-less-perfect pictures would be so popular.

Juillet 2016. Je me suis fait un chandail, pour moi. C'était totalement à main levé. C'était pas parfait, mais j'en étais fière. Alors je l'ai partagé sur les réseaux sociaux. Principalement sur Facebook dans un groupe de crochet. Wow. Les réactions que j'ai reçu m'ont renversées! Je n'aurais jamais cru que mon pas-si-parfait chandail et mes encore-moins-parfaites photos seraient si populaire.

Obviously, I improved the design. I changed the constructions. Modified the hoodie and the sleeves and changed a thing here and there. But you can see that I started from this picture.

Bien entendu, j'ai amélioré le design. J'ai changé la construction. Modifié le capuchon et les manches. J'ai changé des trucs par-ci par-là. Mais vous pouvez quand même voir que je suis partie de cette photo.

Today, I now have the official pattern, version 2.0 (tested and approuved by wonderful testers) in 6 different sizes! Because as you can see, my sister (who's a size medium) wears her sweater beautifully. And I (a size x-large) do too!

Aujourd'hui, j'ai donc le patron officiel, version 2.0 (testé et approuvé par de géniales testeuses) dans 6 tailles différentes! Car comme vous pouvez le voir, ma soeur (qui fait du medium) porte magnifiquement son chandail. Et je (taille x-large) le porte très bien aussi!

And I you can't find your size in the list, you can adapt the pattern, thanks to the section called ''how to adapt the pattern'' (great name, isn't it?). So for the curvy gals, you can make it bigger, or for the smaller gals (or even for your kids!), you can make it smaller. You just need patience, and a pen. Well, you'll definitely need other tools as well, but you get the idea...

Et si vous ne pouvez pas trouver votre taille dans la liste, vous pouvez adapter le patron, merci à la section appelée ''comment adapter le patron'' (merveilleux nom, n'est-ce pas?). Alors pour les femmes avec des courbes, vous pouvez le faire plus grand. Et pour les femmes plus petites (ou même pour vos enfants!), faites le plus petit. Vous avez seulement besoin d'un peu de patience, et d'un stylo. Enfin, vous aurez besoin d'autres trucs, mais vous comprenez....
